Lieutenant Jimmie Barrett has been the Court Security Supervisor for the Arlington County, Virginia Sheriff's Office since February of 2000 and Deputy since 1992.
He is a member of The Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) and ASIS International. Lt. Barrett was a past Chairman of the Court Officers' & Deputies' Association (CODA), a subcommittee of The National Sheriffs' Association and is a Life Member of the NSA.
He has published articles and instructed on the topic of Court Security for the National Sheriffs’ Association and The Virginia Center for Policing Innovation across the country. He is considered to be one of the leading experts on Court Security in the United States.
Lt. Barrett is a Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) certified Crime Prevention Specialist as well as a certified Virginia DCJS General Instructor. He holds a master's degree in Public Administration from George Mason University, and a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Texas Lutheran University.
